There are 3 levels of member privileges:

1. Author – have access to 3 menu items: Publish, Campfire and Settings. Authors will only be allowed to publish on authorised sections.
2. Administrator – have access to all menu items.
3. Owner – have access to all menu items and cannot be deleted.

Changing passwords will also change your authentication token.

Allowing this feature is necessary for applications such as XML-RPC. This technically has the same effect as a person logging in. So please make sure you keep the token string private. If you believe the token is known by others, please make sure to change your password to reset the token.

Authentication tokens are also useful when you need other applications e.g. XML Feed Readers to access your pages when you are in maintenance mode.

Syntax: append ?auth=your-token on the end of the page that needs access. e.g. yoursite.com/private-page/?auth=1234567
